In an effort to live a little closer to the old saying of “Use it up, wear it out. Make it do… or do without”, I decided to mend the holes in my thermal socks rather than just getting new ones.

I’m no expert. I kind of just searched “darning” on Pinterest and went from there. I don’t have anything fancy. No beautiful darning eggs or mushrooms here. And I used my stash of embroidery thread, rather than go buy fancy darning yarn. If I was going to buy something it would have just been some new socks.

It’s not fancy.

It’s not perfectly straight and woven beautifully.

But it is functional.

The hole is gone, and I am now working on the holes in all my other thick thermal socks.

I’m sure that my depression-era great grandmothers would be proud.

Welcome to my little corner of the internet, mostly about plants in my Zone 3/4 garden in Alberta, Canada. I also dabble in many different crafty pursuits although I haven’t documented them on here very well for many years.
