I figured I would do a quick breakdown of what is happening each month…. Its easy to say that now when I don’t have a ton of things happening in life, but we’ll see how this goes. I’m setting low expectations for myself, other than getting something posted at the end of every month. They might end up being photo-less posts, like this one. But I’m aiming for a quick break down of everything garden related here at the end of each month.
My Kitchen Window is dominated by Apple and Pear Seedlings. I’ll try and write about them soon. Also 1 Burr Oak!!! I’m super excited about all the trees.
Pepper Seedlings are sprouting. But It isn’t looking good for the Marconi peppers. (Which I am ok with I guess. When I have a greenhouse someday, I’ll grow all the peppers and tomatoes then. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later). All the others are doing quite well. I’ll transplant once they get their true leaves, but that wont be for a bit.
My herbs that I’ve sown are doing well also, but a little leggy. I’ll have to do the next round of other things like oregano soon… that will be in the March update.
I rooted some Rosemary and ended up with 2 that actually rooted in the water, and they have been happy now that they are in dirt.
I sowed the Zebrune Shallots around the middle of the month, and they are all doing well. I’m hoping they will grow slow enough that I don’t have to move them out of the little flat they are in, but we’ll see… Spring is a long way away here.
The Celery has been a cool experiment. You can read more about here it in the last post.
Weather-wise. We’ve had a pretty nice February. Enough Chinook weather to keep the Spring Fever alive and well, and Enough cool weather and snow to keep my plants all insulated and protected from the Chinook winds. A million times better than last year when it was basically -40 for the entire month.
I am trying to get closer to more of a garden plan. Operative word being trying. I just want to grow EVERYTHING and then I forget that I have a tiny yard and a short growing season. March should be a bit more word-filled… and hopefully I’ll have some photos to add.
